Now, Kajol moves down South for `VIP' Dhanush

On November 3, National Award winning-actor-pro ducer Dhanush and his film maker-sister-in-law and daughter of superstar Rajinikanth, Soundarya, announced that they will be collaborating on the sequel to the 2014 Tamil action-drama Vela Illa Pattathari (Unemployed Graduate) aka VIP.

On November 3, National Award winning-actor-pro ducer Dhanush and his film maker-sister-in-law and daughter of superstar Rajinikanth, Soundarya, announced that they will be collaborating on the sequel to the 2014 Tamil action-drama Vela Illa Pattathari (Unemployed Graduate) aka VIP. While Soundarya will take over as director from Velaraj, Dhanush will reprise his role from the first part.
He has also written the story and dialogues of the sequel.Kabali producer Kalaipuli S Thanu will join Dhanush as co-producer.Now, Mirror has learnt that Kajol will reportedly be Dhanush's leading lady.
While the original followed Raghuvaran, a graduate who is unemployed for four years, before finally landing a job and what happens thereafter, the sequel will be a continuation of the story with the protagonist in a completely different predicament. 'The film has an In Pursuit of Happiness-theme which will be retained in the second film as well as also 'Kolaveri Di' composer, Anirudh Ravichander's background music,' informs a source close to the development, adding that VIP 2 will be filmed simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu and is expected to kick off in January.
Last week Soundarya and Dhanush had an extensive discussion with Kajol who was last seen in Dilwale. 'The entire script was shared with her, followed by a narration. Kajol loved the story and has given her nod to the film verbally.However, there are certain dateissues but the makers are working their schedule around her and she is expected to sign later this month.They are hoping Kajol comes on board soon,' adds the source.
The news comes as a welcome surprise to Kajol's fans in Tamil Nadu who last saw the actress essay the role of Priya Amalraj in Rajiv Menon's 1997 romance-drama, Minsara Kanavu (Electrifying Dreams).She played Arvind Swamy's love interest in the film which also featured Prabhudheva and Girish Karnad in significant roles. Shot in Ooty and Chennai, the film went on to win four National Awards, including Best Music by AR Rahman. It was later dubbed in Hindi and released as Sapnay.
