Bengaluru: Amid accusations of being an "autocrat", BJP party state president BS Yeddyurappa on Saturday sent a clear message to dissidents that anti-party activities won't be tolerated.
Yeddyurappa said he's ready to listen to all the grouses that his partymen have about party activities. "No matter how influential a person may be, such activities won't be allowed.
We are forming a disciplinary committee to keep a watch over those indulging in such activities," he said.
Leader of opposition in the legislative council, KS Eshwarappa's absence at the office-bearers' meeting on Saturday indicated that not all is well in the party. However, this statement at an open forum and in the presence of national general secretary P Muralidhar Rao suggests the leadership has put its weight behind the Lingayat strongman. Earlier, national leaders and Union ministers DV Sadananda Gowda and HN Ananth Kumar appeared to toe the line of the national leadership, when they said the BJP will have to grow "together" under Yeddy urappa's guidance.
Ananth Kumar said the party must now focus on achieving 'Mission 150' for 2018 election.
BJP spokesperson S Suresh Kumar said dissidence was never discussed at the meeting."There was no need to discuss the issue. And even it had to be discussed, we'd do it at a different forum," he said.
