Jasper County schools awarded Special Olympics grants

Jasper County schools recently received grants to support Special Olympics programs.

Funding will be used to allow schools to participate in local Special Olympics events, according to a school district news release. There are also plans to implement other programs within the schools in conjunction with the grants.

The grants were awarded to each school, with Hardeeville and Ridgeland Elementary each receiving $900 and Hardeeville-Ridgeland Middle School and Ridgeland-Hardeeville High School each receiving $800.

Several teachers were involved in securing the grants for their schools. They included Diane Williams, Joseph Williams, Jeffrey Young and Lisa Collins.

Hardeeville-Ridgeland Middle School and Ridgeland-Hardeeville High School were each awarded a $150 supply card to Wal-Mart, $200 for transportation funds, $300 for sports equipment and $150 for Project UNIFY online store credits for T-shirts, uniforms and other items.
