Internet services suspended after Hindu groups plan rally to support Rajsamand killer

Rajasthan Police has imposed Section 144 and suspended internet services after Hindu groups announced that they will hold a rally in support of Rajasmand killer.

In another turn of events, Rajasthan Police today imposed Section 144 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code in Rajsamand and Udaipur district.

Section 144 was clamped after some Hindu organizations announced a rally in support of Shambhu Raigar, who brutally murdered a Muslim man and filmed the act over love jihad.

On Wednesday, the Udaipur Police issued a notice stating that it has imposed section 144 as some Hindu groups were planning to holdia rally that could compromise the safety of other citizens and may lead to communal clashes in the region.

The police have said that they have temporarily suspended telecom services.

The police have announced that it has temporarily suspended 2G/3G/4G Data, internet services, bulk sms/MMS/WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter and other social media services.

The internet services are likely to resume after 24 hours. The note also asked citizens to stay vigilant and alert the police if anyone broke the law.

On December 7, the incident came to light where Raigar was seen assaulting a man with a sharp-edged weapon and later dousing him with an inflammable liquid and setting him on fire.

The horrific incident sent shock waves across the nation. The Rajasthan Police later arrested Raigar and said that he committed the crime after being angered over an incident of exploitation of women from his village in the past.
