Honda has hit a hat trick with the success of its third consecutive vehicle, the Mobilio, after the diesel versions of Amaze and City in India. Launched here on July 23, 2014, the Mobilio not just received an overwhelming response but has also toppled its arch rival Ertiga in monthly sales, as per the August sales report. Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) delivered 5530 units of the newly launched Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) last month, while Maruti Suzuki sold 5,491 units of Ertiga, the difference being marginal.

Let us see one of the reasons which tend to place the Mobilio a little higher than the Ertiga. Even though it is priced a bit higher than Ertiga, The Honda MPV boasts of larger dimensions, thereby offering a roomier cabin. In fact, Honda has paid special attention to space in the third row, which certainly makes the Mobilio a preferred choice over the Ertiga.

Japanese manufacturer Honda is anticipating that with the onset of the festive season in India, demand for the Mobilio is expected to go higher. For this reason, HCIL has temporarily halted production of the new City at its Greater Noida facility in order to accommodate greater production for Mobilio. The City's production will be resumed shortly at the company's other plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan.
