Shah Rukh Khan is not happy with the title of his friend Karan Johar’s biography, ‘An Unsuitable Boy’. As the superstar took to the stage to launch the book, which Karan has co-authored with Poonam Saxena, he suggested a plethora of titles which he thought made more sense: ‘A Good Boy’, ‘An Intelligent Boy’, ‘A Sensitive Boy’, ‘A Brave Boy’, or perhaps ‘The Most Beautiful Boy’. Talking about Karan — director, producer, actor, talk show host and now author — SRK said, “Karan is a good boy, and his parents, Hiroo and Yash, would attest to it. It doesn’t matter even if it’s 3 am, he likes to spend time with his mother. Karan understands people.”
The duo has been friends for decades now. They have acted together in films like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and My Name Is Khan and Karan treats SRK like family. However, this did not stop people from speculating that they were romantically involved, a topic Karan dismissed in his biography in no uncertain terms. Not just that, he has spoken at length about his friendships, his sexual orientation, his films, his mentees and his life.
At the book launch in Mumbai on Monday, Karan explained why he loves Shah Rukh so much, “Shah Rukh Khan was an animator, so conversational, respected my father so much. When I saw SRK give my father so much love, I fell in love with him. There are ups and down in so many relationships. But with SRK there is deep love and respect I have for him. Ours will be a dynamic connect that will stay forever. My love for his family is so constant. My love for him and his work is beyond work. We have our down days and humongous high days. They will not get diminished.”
While talking about stardom, he said,” Clearly edged in my head. I grew up with movie stars. I was used to stars’ stardom. We had to succumb in their stardom.”

Talking about his other friendship, with Kajol, Karan said, “We have a great history. I don’t want to add anything to what has been already said. We have shared a 25-year-long friendship.” Karan has written in his book how his friendship ended on a sour note, “She was the one who mattered to me but now it’s over. I wouldn’t like to give a piece of myself to her at all because she’s killed every bit of emotion I had for her for twenty-five years… I can’t even say that I was hurt or pained by it. I just wanted to blank it out. When she reacted to the whole situation and put out a tweet saying, ‘Shocked!’ that’s when I knew it was completely over for me.”

Karan had something to talk about his personal friendships in the showbiz in general. The filmmaker said,”Most of my personal connections are my family. My most dynamic relationships are with fraternity and the industry. I will cherish these relationships all my life.”
