The transco warned if the situation continued, there may be “system failure”, which may lead to a power crisis during summer.

MSEDCL, MSEDCL Damini, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited, maharashtra govt, state power utility, pune news The Delhi Transco Limited (DTL) has said the two discoms – BRPL and BYPL – both owned by Reliance, owe it Rs 1170.89 and Rs 787.16 crore, respectively.

Just weeks before electricity demand is likely to peak during summer, the state government-run transmission utility has warned Reliance-owned discoms it could regulate the power supply due to non-payment of transmission charges to the tune of Rs 1,958 crore.

The Delhi Transco Limited (DTL) has said the two discoms – BRPL and BYPL – both owned by Reliance, owe it Rs 1170.89 and Rs 787.16 crore, respectively. They have not paid since October 2014 and December 2014, respectively, according to DTL.

“It is pertinent to mention that both BRPL and BYPL are making payment of the dues of most of the Central Sector Generating and Transmission Companies as well as the Generating Companies of its own group in time whereas… not making any payment at all to DTL. This is a highly discriminatory and unfair approach… option with DTL is to regulate power supply but this will not be in the interest of general public of Delhi who are paying their electricity bills to discom regularly,” said a DTL spokesperson.
