Following the Honda Civic hatchback’s American debut last month, the Swindon, UK-built Honda has made its European market debut ahead of the Paris Motor Show, featuring a duo of turbocharged petrol engines: a 180 hp, 1.5 litre four-cylinder (the unit in the Malaysian Civic sedan produces 173 PS and 220 Nm), and a new, 127 hp 1.0 litre three-cylinder unit.
A development of the current 1.6 litre turbodiesel will also be in the line-up, which is expected to gain emissions and performance improvements. For Europe, both the six-speed manual and continuously variable transmission (CVT) options will be available.
Inside, the Civic hatchback adopts a 60:40 split-folding rear seat bench; with them in position, the luggage compartment holds 478 litres. There are three audio systems to choose from, with four, eight or 11 speakers. All audio systems will work with a seven-inch infotainment unit which includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto mobile device integration.
A host of driver assistance functions are also in place for the Civic hatchback, including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistant, forward collision warning, blind spot information, and a collision mitigating braking system.
The UK-built Civic hatchback is set to be exported to over 70 countries worldwide, and the first batches have already arrived in North America. The model will also be produced in Thailand, for the ASEAN markets.
However, for the Malaysian market, the Civic hatchback hasn’t figured into the the product plan yet, though that may change if Honda Malaysia deems there is sufficient demand for it. Fancy a Civic hatchback in Malaysia? Make your voices heard.

1.6 turbodiesel! Please launch it in Msia.
Even the turbo here got issues already. Still introducing more troubles?
No issues wt the 1.6 idtec turbo diesel coz its had been around for a few years already in UK/Europe. used by prev Europe/UK gen civic & also currently being used by the CRV there. Proven reliable engine…
Bagero San…pls bring in Hatchback and coupe.
1.8NA ok edi
Turbodiesel in Malaysia? Get cucked by B10 diesel and you’ll have to clean engine every 3-5 years. Haha
This turbodiesel engine usually paired with Dual Clutch gearbox , so no thanks..We learnt a lesson from Volkswagen and Ford that Dual Clutch gearbox are not reliable here.
Malaysia will never bring in this model. Even it does…. The price will be more expensive or else missing equipments
Malaysia do not have rear seat fold is because you have more rigid and stability. It is not really a bad thing
It is not like you carry long items everyday
Hatchback boot more practical + driving prowess > Mazda 3.
With that CVT gearbox? Pfftt. Mazda has always been known for its superb driving dynamics, the 3 in the c-segment is no exception. However, the civic is definitely more practical.
Boring japs handling, proton / conti lightyears ahead.
For many years Honda do make good looking Civic hatchbacks and Accord coupes. Its just that they were never brought in because afraid tak laku. If priced right they’d sell better than the likes of Elysion, Freed, Odyssey, CRX or even the CRV.
what variant is shown in the picture? the rear bumper side black hole looks too big. hopefully is functional
Ahbengs told me the rear holes is to add downforce and adds 10HP. Dun persoal ahbengs.
Rear ugly design
People who love out door sports like cycling/triathlon will love the hatch back car… I have been driving hatch back type of cars since 5 years back and I love it… easy to carry all my stuffs and don’t need special roof top carry rack…
I wan hatchback.. Honda malaysia pls

Mick,
So how do we make our voices heard? There’s no way for the public to contact Katsuto Hayashi. Honda Malaysia’s facebook doesn’t give any response of any kind. And Honda Malaysia’s website customer service is non-responsive either.
