Meemsa (Dhuri), July 20

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today put all speculation about the SAD candidate from Dhuri for the 2017 Assembly elections to rest.

He said that neither Sukhbir nor he would contest from Dhuri and that sitting MLA Gobind Singh Longowal would be the SAD candidate at that seat.

Commenting on the interruption in the atta-dal scheme during the past few months, Badal said the scheme would not be withdrawn.

On the law and order situation in the wake of the critical condition of Surat Singh Khalsa, who has been observing a fast for the release of 82 Sikh detainees lodged in various jails of the country, Badal said law and order would be maintained at every cost.

On the Ghaggar issue, the CM said he had taken up the Ghaggar case with the Centre for its early solution and to ensure that the Ghaggar project gets completed in a year to save the people from Ghaggar’s fury.

Speculations were doing the rounds for the past some time as the CM had been visiting Dhuri seat regularly after Longowal’s victory in the Dhuri byelection recently.
