The Vellore district administration has decided to send proposals to the state government for Rs.30 crores for the development of tourism infrastructure and tourist attractions in Yelagiri Hills, according to R. Nanthagopal, Collector of Vellore.
Delivering the valedictory address of the two-day summer festival here on Sunday, Mr. Nanthagopal said that the infrastructure to be developed include roads, rest houses and the existing boat house, while the tourist attractions include the establishment of a Nature Park on a 100-acre land. He said he hoped that the School Education Minister K.C. Veeramani would obtain consent for the proposals from the Chief Minister.
The Collector said that the Tamil Nadu government is implementing tourism development works at a cost of Rs.500 crores throughout the state.
This included Rs.170 crores for improvement of basic infrastructure such as good roads.
