An Italian geologist is living life on the edge — of a volcano!

A little lava didn’t scare Francesco Pandolfo, who got dangerously close to Mount Nyirangongo to get an inside look at the volcanic activity, Caters News Agency reported.

Pandolfo set up his tripod and camera just a few feet from the mouth of the Congo volcano, snapping some red-hot shots of the molten plasma.

The stunning snapshots show fiery streaks with deep oranges and reds throughout the inside of the 11,382-foot mountain.

Pandolfo is using the pictures to research the volcano, which last erupted in 2011.
